LIAR Festival: TAO TE KIN, ZELAZOWA, RIP KC

I was tired that wednesday night but I couldn't refuse to go to another LIAR Fest. I confirmed once again LIAR Fest is a warranty of quality.

First band was TAO TE KIN (myspace). Never heard anything of them but the couple songs you can access on the internet. You can go to their official website and get their demo "Anatomía del Equilibrio". Solid band. Cool sound and originality given by twisted melodies in good company with metal riffs. They've learned well lessons given by that four letter band who starts with a T and ends with an L. As a whole, their live performance is active but the real thing is the lack of attitude of the band is fulfilled by the frontman, as sometimes is expected. Nice band to be checked and listened.

Next band was ZELAZOWA (myspace). Brian accepted my apologies after the show because I didn't know anything about them. Anyway, my intention was not to do an interview at that time. I was cheerfully surprised once they barely played their first song and I tell you why: if you see them before the show preparing their instruments and mics and you watch them, you'll think these guys never broke a glass. These brothers and cousins are far from being quiet guys after their first chord. Pure energy is what you'll feel on that mixture between REDD KROSS and SONIC YOUTH spiced with the hard vein of some angry WEEZER. Brian (main vocals and guitar) looks possessed in any vocalization, popeyed in every scream, spasms on any guitar passage. You'll feel tired after watching them live 'coz the whole band follows this attitude... not to mention their drummer: a crazy open mouth drumstick freak high on vitamins to cope with the show 'til the end.

After them, to end yesterday's LIAR Fest, RIP KC (myspace) took the stage to discharge their perfect performance with their usual set of pieces. Though live they're very easy to follow and enjoy, I'm not very into that 70's hippie chill-out rock they perfectly uncover with their instruments.

I couldn't finish watching RIP KC's set because I had still to drive back home 50 km. It was then when I met Brian and changed some words.
They've been touring US this last time and have a lot of live shows on their backs with only four years of life. Though they know themselves since they're fourteen and, also, guitarists are brothers and bass and drummer are cousins, band didn't got the shape of ZELAZOWA (myspace) until four years ago. It was time to express as a band how they understand music and kill me if I know where the hell they got their name... I forgot to do that stupid question, sorry.
To my question of how he can do that eerie movements who fit perfect with the tunes and vocals, Brian answered he really doesn't know. It is not provoked in any way. It is just the result as a way of play.
Listening their short life playing, he remembers specially some shows with a band called CAPTAIN OF INDUSTRY, which seems to be pretty similar to them if you pay attention on his description of that band.
They're now enjoying their european assault and they llok happy with it.
It was time to buy their CDs just to check how they sound on studio. And they sound awesome.
So anytime you want to support a band, go to their shows, buy their stuff and feel part of their experience, especially if a band is their full time job.
Stay cool...
