Call it emotional indie rock... acoustic... songwriter... whatever you use won't be enough to describe one of the genius in the (real) musical scene. Have just heard this first solo album as Lou Barlow in ten years a couple minutes ago and the feeling was the expected: COOL.I know that many songs into SEBADOH albums can be nonsense or strident but if you swim thru the waters of the whole career you'll find out pearls that won't be repeated by anyone. Why if not a band like DEADSY decided to make a cover of Brand New Love?
If you're not into Lou Barlow's universe, then you have to decide if you feel shocked about this master after listen EMOH but I can assure you that it is a good time spent.
