Circus Of Damnation - Don't Let Them Fall

Groovy!!! Interesting work of this Italian band.
It is called DON’T LET THEM FALL and you can find dark 6 tunes in the vein of some early MY DYING BRIDE.

It starts with a long intro that sincerely should be shorter (Hey!! Don't go, just wait!!) but, after that, IN SPECIEM CADAVERIS gets you into their obscure realm, easily with that slow drum doomy beat.
Third cut is more into a kind-alike epic sound, similar to late ANATHEMA works, even in the not-guttural voice. A symphonic tune...
FALLING TEARS FROM HER EYES comes again into what they seems to be more into: slow tempoes and black-metalish voice shape this tune. Maybe this time you can consider too recurring the organ background melody… but won’t be annoyed.
On RISING WILL, the piano carries you over their style on what is their last sung song.
LAYING WILL can be considered as the outro before their hidden track EPHIMERAL which is more a musical thought about time.
CIRCUS OF DAMNATION is a serious proposal from Italy for those you are very into both MY DYING BRIDE early era and ANATHEMA latest works.

Listen to them at their myspace or go to their official site for more info.

Hackman - 2007 - The New Normal

This is a blow-off-your-head perfect album. Seven perfect more instrumental tunes which will make you leave the album on your stereo for years, spinning again and again!!! SMALLSTONE RECORDS hit right in the spot for the umpteenth time: what a sense of smell, Scott.

Even the third cut, YOU CAN’T EVER GET WHAT YOU WANT, which starts as a shameless tribute to the glorious TV EYE of the STOOGES, is an enjoyable stoner piece suitable even to jump.

When CHIN MUSIC, that invitation to mosh that is their fourth tune, seems it has nuttin’ new to offer, starts in the middle with one of those always welcome stoned riffs which carries you softly to the end of the song.

ABABAC revises “bluesy-rock” in a perfect FIVE HORSE JOHNSON way and manner during almost 7 minutes…

FUCK YOU I PLAYED ALTAMONT is a quiet outro for this great album…

Great work.

NoizeLand send DARRYL all the energy and health to keep on the good work like now. Cheer up and go for it bro!!!!

HACKMAN threat to record a brand new album near the end of March.

Lykaion - The Things I've Left EP

Good-looking four track work, self produced and gothic metal oriented with female vocals.

Its title is "The Things I've Left" and I gotta tell you with only four tracks, this work kicks out of the ring to the second Evanescence album or some Within Temptation works (comparison done just if you're one of those who quickly picture these bands when you read "gothic" and "female vocals" on the same phrase...).

400

But beware: don't think voice will be sweet because often, vocalist (and keyboards) Tiziana Palmieri turns into angry trills and fierce singing which outlines LYKAION as a sawblade beast with honey look...

Second song, "Not A Farewell", is a 6 minutes delicious cut which will shroud you with that scented dry and dark fog they specially create as a band.

And closing "Emptiness" is a no brakes downhill steamroller will crush you before the sweet part of the song arrives.

Once again, the four track formula works perfect in order to yearn for more LYKAION... and if you are into gothic, heavy-metal, epic-metal and similar brand new made-up few times useful labels, you cannot miss this band.

Stay tuned and keep me posted.

Marble Sheep - 2007 - Message From Oarfish

Enormous!!! And right from the beginning, this album has a kick ass start!!! Drums, guitars and bass rock á la THE WHO in a sweet endless three minutes riff as an intro of the great tune "TEARS" which is the first cut of this very cool album MESSAGE FROM OARFISH.

Soon, right in the second cut "MANA", you'll realise this record will give you more satisfaction than surprises, which is not a few. And that's because I find this second song more rocky than first one, more seventies flavoured. This second song will show you how Jimi Hendrix could be reincarnated on a japanese...

And after this one, you will leave psychedelic realms to enter into some garage fuzz tune titled "RAISE THE DEAD", like if they were brothers of the NEW BOMB TURKS!!!!!!

This album is a melting pot, where every style related with psychedelia is melted and mixed naturally. "SKULL COOL" demonstrates why: this could be done by THE LYRES themselves!!!!
And I can continue until the end of the album... sure you can get the picture is I tell you into song "EGYPTIAN QUEEN" some typical chorus claps go with the distorted voice until fuzzy noisy guitar shut'em down for a solo... awesome.

And of course, heavy guitars give the core of the song on the last one FROM THE CENTER, which will invite you to give this album infinite spins again.

This album would be perfect if it weren't by the interlude song (sixth one) titled "IT'S TIME". You all know that NoizeLand will never understand these kind of cuts, apart from being filler... but on the other hand, it gives you a breath just like a tv break on a film...

Wild friday: THE GODFATHERS and LORDS OF ALTAMONT gigs

Wow!!! This friday kicked ass!!!! To be sincere, I wasn't too convinced on goin' because of I was very tired to cover it. But I had to. So thanks to Diego (HEINEKEN
organization) for the invitation to cover THE GODFATHERS's gig.

Well... as I said, I wasn't convinced because I always enjoyed THE GODFATHERS as a normal band, not as a fave one. And also, I had some reticences because of the age of members... sorry bros. Of course, I was wrong as expected because THE GODFATHERS were never a "spectacular jumps" band. Their energy comes from the instruments and from the constantly angry face of vocalist Peter Coyne.

Slipped into suits, they deployed their well-known powerful songs which ended with -as they said- "the four stages of life: BIRTH, SCHOOL, WORK, DEATH".

But before they went to bed, their encore was filled with some cool tunes we all thank: "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN" and "BLITZKRIEG BOP" were performed in their way but also remembering the owners at the same time.

At that time, I was persuaded (not so strongly, to be sincere) to go to see THE LORDS OF ALTAMONT, which I missed last year and didn't want to miss again. My blood was hot enough to end that night heavy...

Once again GRUTA 77 crowded together a bunch of people to make this gig a complete one.

Supporters were a band called THE MOONSTONES which I didn't know until yesterday night. Female singer and frontman surrounded by musicians made their garage set as a cool one. They were a great choice to support THE LORDS OF ALTAMONT. Cool job.

It was late late night when THE LORDS came out from their graves up to the small stage. And, as I've been told, without any kind of soundcheck... hehehehe

Anyway, they sounded groovy to the bone and they spread their sickness as easy as the rain sinks into open graves... if not, just check picture below and you'll see what the hell can you expect from THE LORDS live!!!

It was pretty funny to see lead singer playing hammond right on top of the keys!!!!! So you'll understand why hammond organ is protected by some red covers and adhesive tape... but it still works!!!! ;)

Musically, you'll always have on your mind some garage bands to compare, but I personally believe THE FUZZTONES would fit perfectly in every sense as a whole comparison.

It was a great show. I'll repeat ANY time I can see them, at least, until they make a "bad move", y'know...
50 kms in cold weather awaited me on my motorbike to come back home so I couldn't talk with the band... next time we'll let them know personally they're one of the greatest bands of the moment.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE ROCK'N'ROLL!!!!!!

FUZZ: Live

It was great when I knew a band like FUZZ would play near my house. Yeah... sometimes I feel a bit lazy to go thru 50 km to see those great gigs I can taste in Madrid... and come back home after a live set could be a pain in the ass.

Imagine a cool irish tavern, L shaped, in a small town near Madrid. Imagine a pretty original band, trio formed, with a worked sound. Imagine this tavern has a cool sound also. Then you got it: a great night.

This band reminds me many bands at the same time. That is, very eclectic. But talking with people there, there were several different opinions about that. As it should be.
But the real truth is that anyone into rock, stoner, prog, sleaze, metal and neighboor styles would be interested on knowing FUZZ to the bone. Don't do a mistake to file this band only in one style...

NoizeLand insistently recommends this band to be checked live because, regardless of music, this trio are fully talented musicians and will enjoy for sure how they play... and a mention apart has to be noted on drummer who will blow your brain's off with his solos...
Great gig. Will see you again for sure.

SEAWEED Tribute on Engineer Records

Brilliant idea for one of the most unjustifiably unrewarded bands in the history: SEAWEED.
NoizeLand has always loved these crazy guys and in an effort of keep the light on, we wanna spread the word on this release which talks by itself. Just read below and balance...

I'm anxious to put my hands on this one... but we all will have to wait some more...

Stay tuned and visit Engineer Records in the meantime...
