EL ALPINISTA + ZOO feedback
The gig was a presentation of two releases from LA INCUBADORA records. Both bands got stuff on it; UN MUNDO PEQUEÑO of EL ALPINISTA and MÚSICA DEL DESCONTENTO of ZOO. And second band, ZOO, started after some fresh pop attack.
Well: the fact is that the bands that night were not similar...
ZOO were twisted. Forget about their past as 995. Their sound can be explained as some commercial CHOKEBORE, stained a bit with spanish defunct band SOBER drops and some spices in a few passages like THERAPY?... maybe. Their sound live is different as live. On the record, sound is neat, clean... produced in the end. Live, they sound rawer and because of that, they fit ok in the night. I only can notice a problem on ZOO: the attitude of lead singer can kill this band. This is just a personal opinion... ;)
Definately, the night was funny, cool and enjoyable. Both albums are recommended.
Happy new year!!!

El Alpinista - Mundo Pequeño
GoodBye, Mr. Brown
Goodbye black energy.
You leave your songs and what you've done. Maybe bad things will be covered for most.
Rest in peace, master.

WIZARDS FEST III was AWESOME!!!
ARENNA, GLOW, VIAJE A 800 and RIP KC. Cool enough…
First band was ARENNA. Some say they were boring but I don’t think so. They played just like UNIDA. But with more originality into their tunes. The problem for them is they’re pretty static on stage. Now is a trend to puke when you listen pure stoner… but who cares. Take it or leave it. And if you take it, enjoy it. Simple, that’s all. Copy?
Second band was GLOW. I’m not their first fan… and they don’t need it. They’re a cool band with a legion of followers (bigger after their new album "Dive into the sun" on ALONE RECORDS) but their sin is: too much posse. Five guys rockin’ in a typical rock formation (frontman, two guitars, bass and drums) gotta do something else than rockin’ if they wanna be aces. But as I said, their new stuff is pretty cool, recommended for all rockers who want to listen cool rock. Maybe they didn’t catch my attention because I was anxious to see VIAJE A 800 live again after a year and a half or so.
VIAJE A 800: AWESOME. I know them since the beginning… since when they played as a hobby… since the band was not serious at all (is it so now?!?!? J)… since they didn’t realise they were pseudo-masters… since when their stuff were only songs for them. But EVERY tune (except country riff with clapping into their DIABLO ROTO DE album, hehehehe) they’ve made until now is a solid song that will never leave your soul, if your soul is pure.
I was shocked when I realised at the end of their gig that they only played three old songs because I normally enjoy bands live if I know most of their set. But this time new material of this trippy wizards deserved the pain to be unloaded over the fascinated mass below their feet and discovered like an unexpected treasure. That’s exactly what their new material will mean.
I can only say they sounded loud, angry, doomy, heavy and thick. And twisted changes into most not-short songs couldn’t even bore anyone there.
Congratulations, dudes: you made it again.
After them, RIP KC closed the night. Three piece band that sounded as good as their experience could picture into someone who doesn’t know them. And only three guys creating a so-eclectic sound that enveloped you back to a previous rock age… I liked them. Their album "Obvious and Bleeding" is very good but watching them live (as almost always with any band) is better.
Looking forward to check new VIAJE A 800 release around February ’07 and, maybe, a re-release of that master piece DIABLO ROTO DE.
Satisfied…

RHINO - Follow The Goat
This CD is heavy and crushing . Stoner Metal? Maybe... Heavy doom? Hell yeah... Believe me. Imagine some Electric Wizard in a faster way. Solid riffs after solid riffs riddle everything that rest on its way with a great throat (Javier Galvez) that reminds me those old cool southern rock vocals like Leslie West: he moves between hard rock and powerful metal so easy...
To give you an idea of the sound, it comes to my mind those riffs of Corrosion Of Conformity's BLIND album. Yeah: guitars sound like that.
This MCD (yeah!!! A real bummer... only five tracks that make you yearn more) starts with the best (IMO) track TEMPLE and could be a good example of what you can expect of this band on stage. After this first track, you'll feel like if a big truck passed over your weak body, baby. Damm that I hadn't seen them live but I'll try not to be so far the chance to check'em out...
This three piece band consists on Javier Galvez (guitar, vocals), Julen Gil (Drums) and Miguel Moral (Bass) coming from bands like From The Cross, Subliminal or Shisha Pangma. Sorry dudes, cannot say anything of these bands...
I've heard they're preparing new stuff. Hope it is as good as expected after checking this Name The Horn Bearer MCD.
Listen these two mp3 files HERE and HERE. Both can be found at their Official Website among other details of the band.
Aw!!! Don't forget to BUY THEIR STUFF... or The Goat will be always on your nightmares...
Beerz...

Here there is another video posting. Video is not much cool by itself... but it is by the band.
For those you don't know Brant Bjork, YOU SHOULD!!!! He was drummer of bands like KYUSS or FU MANCHU. And though they use to play "quiet songs", this song is very cool!!! Enjoy.

LORDI won contest!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, freaks!!!!!!!!!
HELL YEAH!!!! Didn't see it but I know LORDI won contest!!! Wooohoooo!!! Once again I'm right!!! Let's see now how many assholes talk about them and/or the big Scandinavian scene, etc...
Bringing LORDI to the contest was risky... or not... In my opinion, it was a safe bet!!! We can guess what could be next year's contest... more original, maybe!?!?!?! Should be... only if you wanna win.
In the end, this demonstrate metal can still rule the world. LORDI's formula is not new and it's shown it works.
Enter LORDI's world for videos, info and the whole stuff about the band and feel condemned...
